Today we are delighted to be partnering with Little, Brown to share a brand new giveaway with you, celebrating the release of Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray!
About the Book:
Our worlds belong to us.
She’s a soldier.
Noemi Vidal is seventeen years old and sworn to protect her planet, Genesis. She’s willing to risk anything–including her own life. To their enemies on Earth, she’s a rebel.
He’s a machine.
Abandoned in space for years, utterly alone, Abel has advanced programming that’s begun to evolve. He wants only to protect his creator, and to be free. To the people of Genesis, he’s an abomination.
Noemi and Abel are enemies in an interstellar war, forced by chance to work together as they embark on a daring journey through the stars. Their efforts would end the fighting for good, but they’re not without sacrifice. The stakes are even higher than either of them first realized, and the more time they spend together, the more they’re forced to question everything they’d been taught was true.
Defy the Stars is the first book in a new YA sci-fi series from Claudia Gray, published by Little, Brown & Co. Get it in stores April 4th, 2017–and read the first chapter online HERE.

April 10, 2017 at 11:16 amI really liked the first two Across the Universe books, though not so much the last one. I don’t really think of The Long Way To a Small Angry Planet as YA, but since someone else mentioned the sequel I’ll go ahead and say that it’s been a recent favorite.

April 10, 2017 at 8:19 pmI’m not attempting the competition, as I already bought the book and LOVED it, but wanted to add a book. Besides Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray, I loved her Lost Stars (of the Star Wars universe) as an epic sci-fi saga within one book. It had trope of both fantasy and sci-fi, and I loved it. I haven’t reread it in a long time, but loved Anne Osterlund’s Academy 7.
I also second Cecil Castellucci’s duology. I loved them both, but the first one surprised me a bit to be a slight favorite.

April 18, 2017 at 5:02 pmHmm. I read more YA fantasy than true sf, so… I’d say that Bujold’s WARRIOR’S APPRENTICE is definitely YA in spirit, if not marketing, no? If that doesn’t count, I also really enjoyed Garth Nix’s CONFUSION OF PRINCES.
