About the Book:
Which would you choose: a long, quiet life or a short, heroic one?
Jesse Serrano has always been drawn to this question, but he’s never really had a choice. He’s known since birth that a hole in his heart would render his life a short one, whether he likes it or not.
As his dying wish, Jesse sends his cousins, best friend, and girlfriend on a trip across Europe — a mysterious mission that seems more harebrained with every leg of the journey. Following Jesse’s vague instructions, they trek across the continent, unsure if they should be basking in a backpacking trip before heading off to college or searching for something deeper. Through the museums, ancient ruins, landmarks, and more religious iconography than could fill a Holy Ark, they begin to wonder if they’ll ever be able to complete the passage that Jesse laid out for them — and if they even want to without him along for the ride.
In turns hilarious and heartbreaking, Kate Hattemer’s new novel chronicles an unforgettable journey of lost and found, laughter and tears, and a myriad of Madonnas.

June 29, 2015 at 9:54 amThere’s a lot going on with that cover…I kind of like that the people are hidden behind the map. Creates a little mystery. Good cover.

June 29, 2015 at 2:40 pmThe cover is lots of fun! Those girls are obviously up for an adventure, they are smartly heading out in an Outback, and they’re not using a street map, but a world map! Sounds like a great odyssey!

June 29, 2015 at 11:22 pmI feel bad saying this but I don’t really like the cover especially the color saturation. The topic however sounds very interesting.

June 30, 2015 at 1:43 amSerendipitously (is that a word?), I’m in the middle of reading The Vigilante Poets of Selwyn Academy, and I’m totally in love with it. I’m not done yet because I have to do things like “work” and “sleep” and so on. Excuses, excuses.
My favorite thing about the cover is its vintage feel. And the giant map. Paper maps are the best.

July 3, 2015 at 10:54 pmI love how bright it is! The colors really capture your eye. I can appreciate when the models faces aren’t shown on the cover, because they I can still kind of imagine what each character looks like in my head. Additionally, the white symbology on the front overlaid on top of the photo is great; very graphic and different from some of the covers out there now.
LOVE IT!!!
