Today, we are running a special giveaway of the three books in The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater to celebrate the release of the third book Blue Lily, Lily Blue on October 21 2014.
ABOUT THE RAVEN CYCLE
Mystery, Romance and the supernatural combine in this series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Maggie Stiefvater.
Book 1: The Raven Boys:
Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue never sees them–until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks to her. His name is Gansey, a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.
But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul whose emotions range from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher who notices many things but says very little.
For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She doesn’t believe in true love, and never thought this would be a problem. But as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.
Book 2: The Dream Thieves:
Now that the ley lines around Cabeswater have been woken, nothing for Ronan, Gansey, Blue, and Adam will be the same. Ronan, for one, is falling more and more deeply into his dreams, and his dreams are intruding more and more into waking life. Meanwhile, some very sinister people are looking for some of the same pieces of the Cabeswater puzzle that Gansey is after….
Book 3: Blue Lily, Lily Blue
There is danger in dreaming. But there is even more danger in waking up.
Blue Sargent has found things. For the first time in her life, she has friends she can trust, a group to which she can belong. The Raven Boys have taken her in as one of their own. Their problems have become hers, and her problems have become theirs.
The trick with found things though, is how easily they can be lost.

November 6, 2014 at 9:15 amYAY this is the best giveaway! My jaw was on the floor the first time I read the plot synopsis to Scorpio Races because it was actually quite similar to a fantasy I’d been thinking about writing for years, (basically powerful water horses and the island that bred them!), only I’d always been put off by the idea that, well, “water horses” aren’t actually a thing in fantasy, especially not YA, haha. But then MS *made* them a thing, and it was amazing. I love that book. And now I feel like maybe I can write my own!

November 6, 2014 at 9:52 amSo far, her Raven Cycle–especially Raven Boys– is my favorite. I keep recommending it to people with great success. Of course, then they find out the series isn’t fully out yet, and I get in a bit of trouble for that. 😉

November 6, 2014 at 9:53 amMy favorite is definitely the Scorpio Races, though I haven’t gotten around to reading the Dream Thieves or Blue Lily, Lily Blue.

November 6, 2014 at 10:17 amRight now The Scorpio Races is the only Stiefvater book that I’ve read, but I absolutely adored it. I’m hoping to reach the same levels of adoration when I get around to reading The Raven Boys.

November 6, 2014 at 10:26 amI’ve actually never read a Maggie Stiefvater title, although I think I have most of them on my TBR list — they keep looking like something I’d love. The RAVEN books sound like a great place to start.

November 6, 2014 at 10:56 amMy first Stiefvater book was Lament and I liked that one for a really long time but The Dream Thieves is one of the best YA books I’ve ever read so I guess that one is my favorite now!
Eliza
November 6, 2014 at 10:56 amDream Thieves is my favorite, but I’ve only tried Scorpio Races outside of this series.

November 6, 2014 at 11:04 amLooks interesting.

November 6, 2014 at 11:11 amI love, love, love the Scorpio Races. I was kind of “meh” on the Wolves of Mercy Falls, and I was a little disappointed with Sinner since Cole and Isabelle were my favorite parts of the Mercy Falls trilogy. I’ve only read the first Raven Boys but I liked it, and I’ve read some of her short fiction. But I don’t think anything could compare to Scorpio Races for me… for me, that’s one of those books where I feel like anyone who loves that book as much as I do must be a true kindred spirit.
Vanessa Renee
November 6, 2014 at 11:13 amI loved Lament.

November 6, 2014 at 12:48 pmThe Raven Boys, because I haven’t read many of her books yet.

November 6, 2014 at 12:48 pmAs much as I love THE RAVEN CYCLE, THE SCORPIO RACES is when Stiefvater ensured I’d read everything she ever writes.

November 6, 2014 at 12:57 pmFavorites are so hard to choose! If the Raven Cycle can’t just count as one favorite, I suppose I’ll go with The Raven Boys.

November 6, 2014 at 1:04 pmMy favorite Maggie book is Raven Boys with Scorpio Races a super close second. I like Blue’s Aunts and meeting the boys. I love the way Stiefvater can write a description you can not only visualize but hear and taste–they are just that vivid.

November 6, 2014 at 1:48 pmI have only read Shiver, which I did not like very much. I want to give this author another chance and I think The Raven Cycle would be a good place to start.

November 6, 2014 at 2:36 pmThe Dream Thieves is my favorite. I didn’t think I could love anything more than the first in the series, but then the second book went above and beyond. I am so unbelievably excited for book 3, and I don’t know how I’m going to survive the wait for the final book!

November 6, 2014 at 3:29 pmLoved The Scorpio Races, haven’t had a chance to read these yet!
Katie
November 6, 2014 at 3:35 pmI love this series–and this is fitting, since I also just read today that Stiefvater’s “The Scorpio Races” (which I also loved, though not quite as much as this series) is getting the movie adaptation treatment. I’d love to see a Raven Boys movie, but I don’t know how well this story would work on the big screen…

November 6, 2014 at 4:03 pmI have not yet read any of her books, but they’re on the list!

November 6, 2014 at 4:04 pmSo far its The Scorpio Races, because I love how she captured that feel of place and finding your place. I’m still reading her backlist and newer books.

November 6, 2014 at 6:20 pmI loved the first two Raven Boys books. Hard to pick a favorite. I love how the myth continues to deepen as the series goes on, and how I never know where it’s going to go next.

November 6, 2014 at 9:57 pmI enjoyed Lament and Ballad more than the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy. I’d definitely recommend her short fiction on Merry Sisters of Fate (merryfates.com). I’m still a little sad that she and Brenna Yovanoff and Tessa Gratton don’t post anymore, but that site is a dragon’s hoard of shiny story gems. Love it.

November 7, 2014 at 12:33 amThe dream thieves! I was really surprised at where it went (I guess I could have picked up on any hints from the first book, but I wasn’t quite invested in the series yet…) The scorpio races was wonderful too, though…

November 7, 2014 at 10:43 amI loved Scorpio Races a lot. It would be hard to pick my favorite of the Raven Cycle books so far, but I really love Blue’s family. I love their descriptions and they way they’re unconventional, but still a family. That’s very familiar (heh) to me.
Deb
November 7, 2014 at 2:27 pmI enjoyed The Scorpio Races — although before I read the book, I thought “water horses” would involve racing sea horses underwater and was quite curious to see how Stiefvater was going to explain away the human vs. seahorse size differences.

November 7, 2014 at 5:11 pmI’ve only read one of Stiefvater’s books, The Scorpio Races, which I didn’t expect to like at all, but actually found to be pretty good. I’ve wanted to read The Raven Cycle, but the first one doesn’t stay on the shelf at my library long enough for me to get it.

November 7, 2014 at 11:56 pmWOW this is a hard question to answer. She writes with such clarity and cleverness, ALL her books are amazing. Right now though, I would have to say Blue Lily, Lily Blue, because I think it is the meatiest book of TRC- everything has been set up and the characters are well-fleshed, so the reader can just relax into the story.

November 9, 2014 at 11:27 pmWhile I really loved the Wolves of Mercy Falls series and The Scorpio Races, the Raven Cycle books have won my heart completely.
Choosing one of the three is tough. I think The Raven Boys was a genius first book that hooked me immediately. The Dream Thieves had the most Ronan, so that’s tempting. Blue Lily, Lily Blue was great, too! If pressed, I would probably choose The Dream Thieves, but it is a really hard choice!
