Hello everyone and Happy Sunday! Ana is away at FantasyCon in York, where we just learned some good news…
FantasyCon 2014:
The British Fantasy Society’s annual Fantasy Convention, FantasyCon 2014 was this weekend! Including panels and talks as well as other assorted fantasy genre geekery, FantasyCon culminated today with the announcement of the British Fantasy Awards. And guess what?! Speculative Fiction 2012: The Year’s Best Online Reviews, Essays and Commentary won the award for Best Non-Ficition! We couldn’t be more thrilled for Justin & Jared, editors of the 2012 edition, and for all of our fellow contributors. Huzzah!

This Week on The Book Smugglers:
We kick off the week with a cover reveal and giveaway for A Hero at the End of the World by Erin Claiborne – a novel from small independent (and kickstarter-funded) publisher Big Bang Press, which represents emerging talent from the fan writing community.
On Tuesday, Thea takes over with a review of the alternate history/steampunk Clementine by Cherie Priest (in preparation for this year’s eventual release of Jacaranda, also set in the Clockwork Century).
Then Ana takes over Old School Wednesdays with a review of The Edge on the Sword by Rebecca Tingle…
And on Thursday, Ana is back with a review of graphic novel In Real Life by Cory Doctorow and Jen Wang.
Finally, we close out the week – for real this time – with a joint review of Kate Milford’s Greenglass House. Plus, Thea is over at Kirkus with her take on the end of Jeff VanderMeer’s Southern Reach trilogy, Acceptance.
Phew! It’s another busy week! Until tomorrow, we remain…
