October 31, 2013 at 2:00 am“The Exorcist”. Now, I say ‘favorite’ but really it’s more about nostalgia. To this day, it still terrifies me.

October 31, 2013 at 5:55 amThe book that played on my mind the most was Stephen King’s It which I read when I was quite young!
Katie S.
October 31, 2013 at 6:28 amMy favorite horror film is 28 Days Later. In terms of books, I would have to go with And Then There Were None. I know it’s technically a mystery novel, but it scared the crap out of me when I was reading it, so yeah.

October 31, 2013 at 7:11 amCoraline scared the heck out of me when I was a kid. The other father part still bothers me.
Anna K.
October 31, 2013 at 7:21 amMy favorite horror book is Let The Right One in. By the synopsis I was expecting the vampire thing to be main character´s imagination, and the vampire kid to be mere mortal, though abused, kid.
At 3 a.m. I´d come to regret my choice of light night reading.
Read the whole thing in one night, slept next few nights with lights on, still years later feel creeped out when walking through an underpass…

October 31, 2013 at 7:36 amI have so many but this week I re-watched Event Horizan and cabin in the Woods which are both awesome. The first horror book that came to mind is Drawing Blood by Poppy Z. Brite. Right now I’m in the middle of reading Parasite by Mira Grant so far so good.

October 31, 2013 at 10:02 amPersonally, I don’t really like horror, but my partner does and if I win I’m giving all the books to him. As a kid, I did love this ghost story middle grade book called “Wait ‘Till Helen Comes” that was terrifyingly creepy to my 10 year old self.

Sarah E.
October 31, 2013 at 10:25 amIt is hard to chose a favorite scary book for me—I love all of them. One book that really scared me is actually a memoir and not exactly a horror story. It is called “Strange Piece of Paradise” by Terri Jentz.
Heather C.
October 31, 2013 at 10:34 amExcellent giveaway! I’m in desperate need of boosting the horror collection in my school library. In general, I’m not a reader of horror, but when I do, I prefer those that scare you without being super bloody and/or gory. One of the scariest stories I’ve ever read is “Three Skeleton Key” by George G. Toudouze.

October 31, 2013 at 11:17 amThe only ‘horror’ film I can actually handle is Poltergeist because I’m a total wimp. I also steer clear of most horror books except for the YA and Middle Grade ones as those I can generally handle. So I’ll nominate Coraline as my favorite horror book.
Sunday Smith
October 31, 2013 at 11:53 amMy favorite spooky tale is Dracula by Bram Stoker. It has the most sensual scene I had ever read in all my 15 years – the age I was when I read it – and it had nothing to do with sex!
Hannah H
October 31, 2013 at 12:31 pmHmm. I really liked NOS4A2- it’s probably the best horror novel I’ve read for a while now. I like horror novels where the setting is really important. I enjoyed Bone Song quite a bit because of it, although I thought the plot and characters didn’t live up to the sheer awesomeness of the setting and premise. I like horror short stories, too. Ray Bradbury and Sarah Monette are probably my favorite authors there, although Roald Dahl’s short stories are usually more creepy than both of theirs.

October 31, 2013 at 1:53 pmMy new favorite horror novel is The Edge of Dark Water, by Joe Lansdale. Talk about atmospheric — this book creeped me out to no end. I think it features one of the most horrifying villains I’ve ever encountered in the pages of a book!
jenn aka the picky girl
October 31, 2013 at 2:02 pmI hate horror! But Uncle Montague’s book looks amazing. I really did enjoy The House with the Clock in Its Walls years ago, though. The scariest I go on Halloween is Arsenic & Old Lace, a classic. 🙂

October 31, 2013 at 8:21 pmCan I count Stephen King’s Dark Tower series as horror? Pretty please? If not, I also love Frankenstein and The Historian. TV-wise, Whitechapel is also quite good, in a guilty-pleasure kind of way.

November 1, 2013 at 10:57 pmThe Shining is probably my favorite book and movie. But I think I may have to admit to loving the mini-series TV remake of The Shining more than the 70s movie. It’s so much more creepy/scary to me.
Laura Morrigan
November 2, 2013 at 12:38 amMost things I like are pretty Gothic, not sure about how horrifying they are! My favourite movie is Interview With the Vampire, but if we are talking classic horror, probably House on Haunted Hill. I haven’t seen it for so long but have been thinking about it a lot in the lead up to Halloween!
