We haven’t had one of these in a while, so we decided to throw one up. Y’know. For Wolverine and all.
A few weeks ago, we stumbled across these covers over at Marvel.com. In celebration of Wolverine’s 35th anniversary, Marvel released a number of variant covers this month with depictions of Wolverine in the style of famous artists.
With that in mind, for this week’s ponderings we ask you:

May 2, 2009 at 2:17 amHummmm, I love the first one: it is the most beautiful.
As for the “cool” factor I would have to with the Dali.

May 2, 2009 at 4:12 amTough call, I’m torn between the cave paiting (looks lovely and reminds of classic comic styles), Dali and Magritte.
Hmm, I don’t really get Magritte, I second the vote for Dali.
It is an intriguing re-imagining of his pictures.

May 2, 2009 at 8:07 amWow that’s a tough one! They’re all really pretty good. I like the first one, the one in the Salvador Dali fashion, The Daredevil and the one with the umbrella. Other than that I can’t choose one. π Fun poll

*looking again*
*changing mind again*
gah! I think it’s the Secret Warriors one, closely followed by the Hulk one.
And I’ll stop now π

But as far as talent and wow factor, I’d go with the Dali.

May 3, 2009 at 7:30 amDarn it, I didn’t realise that this is another one of Marvel’s infamous “Wolvie covers for the comics he doesn’t appear in” stunt so I wondered for a moment what that might mean. π³

May 3, 2009 at 12:11 pmI like the Munch and Magritte, but I really think the Japanese woodblock print-style one really pegged the style, spot-on, without directly copying a painting. Casting my vote for that one.

May 3, 2009 at 12:25 pmHmm… I’m torn between the Gory and the Magritte for favorite, but I agree with Kate. The Japanese woodblock painting is style perfect.
