Big News:

Meljean Brook announced that she has a new deal with her publisher – 4 books to be published, two in the Guardian Series and two in a new Steampunk Romance series called Iron Seas. We are very excited about the Steampunk series and can’t wait to read Meljean Brook’s take on it!

The next Guardians book is to be called Demon Dawn “in which two guardians must put aside their tragic story after a terrifying betrayal by one of their own”.

Now, we have a bit more of information to share about Demon Dawn – the two Guardians that will be the protagonists are: Alejandro and Irena. They are introduced in the upcoming instalment Demon Bound to be released November 4th. Ana has read the Demon Bound and she says: it is amazing and both Alejandro and Irena are very intriguing characters. They constantly bitch and exchange barbs in what seems to be two friends trying to deny stronger feelings. Irena is a little creepy and weird (she SNARLS) and their Gifts seem to complement each other’s – as they forge weapons for the Guardians and there is one scene where they are working together to forge Jake’s weapons in Demon Bound that is full of tension – the good type.

And in the words of Meljean Brook – Alejandro and Irena’s story will have “tons and tons and tons of angst”

Demon Dawn has no release date yet but it will probably be a fall (or even winter) release. How to cope with the waiting?

This Week:

On Monday, we’ll bring you two reviews. Thea will review of P.C. Cast’s Goddess of the Sea, which will be re-released in trade paperback October 7.

Ana will give an early review for Kim Lenox’s Night Falls Darkly, in stores this month. Here’s the rundown:

Death is inevitable.
But there are some souls, more wicked and disobedient than most, who defy Death’s claim.
Rebellious souls who must be called to heel.

ARCHER, Lord Black, returns to England at the behest of Queen Victoria to immerse himself in the dark, hellish streets of London’s East End. Among the immortal Shadow Guard, he is the most prolific and cunning of the Reclaimers. He revels in the hunt of his current prey: an ill-mannered, reluctant soul reviled in the daily newspapers as Jack the Ripper. Archer has only one weakness … one distraction … the young woman he spared from death two years before.

ELENA WHITNEY has never wanted for anything – not since coming under the protection of her mysterious and absent guardian, Lord Black, who has gifted her with everything a young woman of quality could ever hope for, including an enviable address, an unlimited income and entrée into the drawing rooms of high society. But now, after nearly two years of indifference, he believes he can sweep into her life and rid himself of her by marrying her off. If he knew anything about her – anything at all – he’d know she had greater aspirations than that.

Check out Kim Lennox’s website for an excerpt.

Richelle Mead Week

From Tuesday through Saturday, we’ll be having our very own Richelle-A-Palooza (you know like in Old School except we don’t have free beer)!

On Tuesday, we will have a joint review of Richelle’s first young adult novel, Vampire Academy. Wednesday, Thea will review the second book in the Vampire Academy series, Frostbite. Also, we’ll have a review for Succubus On Top, book two of Richelle’s Succubus series. On Thursday, Thea will review Richelle’s new release, Succubus Dreams (hint hint, another possible Best of 2008 keeper!).

We’ll close out the week with an interview with Richelle on Friday, along with a giveaway opportunity for Succubus Dreams!

So mark your calendars folks, and be sure to stop by. Until next time…

Hi-yo Silver! AWAAAAYYYYYYY!

Damn, you girls are busy! Making me feel like a slacker 🙂

Is it me or does the girl on the cover of Vampire Academy (the first book) look just like the author. Maybe it is just me.

Psst, Oriannia–Ana *really* liked Night Falls Darkly, so you’re in for a treat 🙂 And hooray for KoSaS arriving! I hope you enjoy it; can’t wait to see what you think.

Shannon–well, we are organization freaks :p It’s a good thing we are both addicted to calendar planning, otherwise we’d totally drive e/o insane! And woah, never noticed it before, but yes! Rose (the girl on the cover of VA) looks like a younger Richelle Mead! If you haven’t read any of Richelle’s stuff, I highly recommend it, by the way 😉

    Marisa–welcome! I hope you enjoy 🙂
