Star Wars fans rejoice!!!!

If you haven’t been completely disconnected from civilization for the past thirty years, you at least have some rudimentary knowledge of the cultural phenomenon that is Star Wars. As a loyal fan, I am one of those brave, obsessed people that waited in line for hours and hours on opening day to watch Episodes I, II and III (I even watched Revenge of the Sith in the theater twice within 24 hours. Don’t judge me. It was awesome).
Just when we thought the official saga had reached its ultimate conclusion, Lucasfilm officially announced an all new feature film will be released in North American theaters this August–a full-length completely animated movie entitled Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
But that’s not all. The movie is only the jumping off point for a new animated series that will air 30 minute episodes each week on Cartoon Network and TNT.
Check out the official press release here; and keep checking up on the official website here for a series of web documentaries that reveal more and give some insight about The Clone Wars.
Another major perk, for once we have a chick main character who also happens to wield a lightsaber! (And yes I know we had Aayla Secura–but only for a nanosecond, so that hardly counts)
Meet Padawan Ahsoka Tano.
Needless to say, I am stoked. The animation looks awesome, and the new cast of characters (in addition to our favorites Anakin, Obi Wan, Yoda, Darth Sidious, Count Dooku) will hopefully give the movie and show a new flavor that will appeal across age groups, to old and new fans.

February 15, 2008 at 11:21 amZeek, yup, this is an expansion on the toon series that aired a few years back. The new movie and series is completely CGI, and takes place during the same time period as the original Clone Wars cartoon (between Episodes II and III). And, another bonus is that the new show will be more episodic and not be so Anakin-heavy.
Right now the show is slated to have 100 episodes!
So…Woohoo indeed!!!
