Hello, all! In the spirit of the upcoming American Thanksgiving, we’re hosting a giveaway of some of our favorite books – the classic Earthsea cycle from Ursula K. Le Guin, newly repackaged with a mighty pretty set of shiny new covers.

About The Earthsea Cycle:

Earthsea is a fictional realm originally created by Ursula K. Le Guin for her short story “The Word of Unbinding,” published in 1964. Earthsea became the setting for six books, beginning with A Wizard of Earthsea, and continuing with The Tombs of Atuan, The Farthest Shore, Tehanu, Tales from Earthsea, and The Other Wind. All are set in the world of Earthsea. Each novel in the series has received a prestigious literary award, including the 1969 Boston Globe–Horn Book Award for Fiction and the 1979 Lewis Carroll Shelf Award for A Wizard of Earthsea, the 1972 Newbery Honor for The Tombs of Atuan, the 1973 National Book Award for Children’s Books for The Farthest Shore, the 1990 Nebula Award for Best Novel for Tehanu, and the 2002 World Fantasy Award for Best Novel for The Other Wind.

I just realized that I entered but it’s only for people in the US of A and I live in Canada… :’( … I could GO to the states… it’s not very far from where I am… :(

  2. Great contest! I think people have forgotten about Ursula Le Guin and she is so good!

  3. I wish I liked these new covers more, to be honest. But! If this gets more people reading the series, I’ll be happy. I always want to recommend The Other Wind to everyone because it’s so completely brilliant, but people aren’t too thrilled when I tell them they need to read five other books first :P

  4. Linda W says:

Love this series. I already have all of these, but not with the new covers! :D

  5. Heidi says:

Can I shamefully admit I’ve never read any Ursula Le Guin? I have a friend who’s been bugging me to read her for the better part of the last decade, but of course I have yet to comply. Head like a brick, this one.

  6. Kate K.F. says:

I’ve always wanted to read these books and only read the book of short stories from Earthsea, which I loved. This is a great giveaway.

  7. Superbwg says:

Wow the whole set with matching covers, that would make a great addition to my bookshelf! I have a whole wall dedicateded to nothing but fantasy series (The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of The Rings, Tortall, etc…)

  8. Sylvia Sybil says:

I’m really happy to see this, especially given the atrocity of the TV adaption (not even attempting accuracy to the books… and then they lied and said the author approved the changes). Glad to see this great series getting better promotion.
