Steampunk Week

Steampunk Appreciation Week (Part Deux): The Calendar

It’s baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

That’s right, gentle readers, it’s time for the second part of our Steampunk Appreciation Week spectacular! We had so much fun the first time around that we knew we had to have another week for more Steampunkish goodness. Here’s the official calendar, so you know what to expect from Steampunk Week: Version 2.0

On Monday, we’ll be bringing you two reviews of books that commonly make “Best of” Steampunk lists. Thea will take on Tim Akers’ excellent Heart of Veridon, meanwhile Ana takes a look at Tim Powers’ The Anubis Gates.

On Tuesday, we keep the steampunk train moving as Ana reviews Steampunk, the anthology, edited by the formidable duo that is Ann and Jeff VanderMeer. Later in the day, Thea reviews The Affinity Bridge by George Mann.

Wednesday, we talk lists, comics, movies, and sundries – we’ll have a list of our own favorite Steampunk works across different media. And then later in the day, we’ll have a joint review of Girl Genius Omnibus Edition #1 by Phil and Kaja Foglio – by most accounts, THE definitive Steampunk comic.

On Thursday, Ana reviews Meljean Brook’s novella Here There Be Monsters which opens her new Steampunk Romance series and Thea does a review Anti-Ice – Stephen Baxter (one of Thea’s favorite authors)’s take on Victoriana Sci-Fi.

On Friday, we give you a joint review of Ekaterina Sedia’s take on the subgenre with The Alchemy of Stone.

Finally, we close out the week with a day devoted to Steampunk Romance – we’ll have guest posts from Heather Massey (the lovely force of nature behind The Galaxy Express, and author Meljean Brook about her upcoming Steampunk-Romance series.

It’s a busy week, and we hope you enjoy!

Wow, it’s going to be such a cool week! I have not read any of those books. I’m trying to be good and read what I have here at least to get my TBR shelf to a reasonable number. Must. Read. Faster. 😈

Bella F – The Burning Up anthology is a Romance anthology not a Steampunk one. Meljean’s story I think is the only Steampunk in the group. This will open her series, which then is followed by the full length novel The Iron Duke in October.
