My Soul To Save Giveaway – A Soul Screamers Special

We are having a party today!

Soul Screamers is a series that follows Banshee Kaylee Cavanaugh as she finds out the extent of her powers and why she screams when someone is about to die.

Something is wrong with Kaylee Cavanaugh. She doesn’t see dead people, but…

She senses when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.

Kaylee just wants to be a normal girl, basking in the joy of having caught the attention of Nash, the hottest guy in school. But getting through a first date isn’t easy when he seems to know more about Kaylee’s need to scream than she does. And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason, only she knows who’ll be next…

Ana reviewed (and loved) the first book, My Soul to Take last year and you can read her review here as well as read a guest post by the author on her inspirations for writing the book.

And book 2, My Soul To Save has been released in early January:

When teen pop star Eden croaks on stage and Kaylee doesn’t wail, she knows something is dead wrong. She can’t cry for someone who has no soul.

The last thing Kaylee needs right now is to be skipping school, breaking her dad’s ironclad curfew and putting her too-hot-to-be-real boyfriend’s loyalty to the test. But starry-eyed teens are trading their souls for a flickering lifetime of fame and fortune in exchange for eternity in the Netherworld—a consequence they can’t possibly understand.

Kaylee can’t let that happen, even if trying to save their souls means putting her own at risk.

And we are celebrating its release with a giveaway!

GIVEAWAY DETAILS:

To one lucky winner: One copy of both books in the Soul Screamers series: My Soul To Take and My Soul To Save

Plus two additional winners can win one copy of book 2 in the series, My Soul to Save!

In order to enter all you have to do is to leave a comment on this post telling us what is your favorite YA series at the moment and why. The contest is open to everybody and will run till February 15th 11:59pm (Pacific). GOOD LUCK!

My favorite Young Adult series at the moment is a throwback – The Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce. I fell in love with Pierce’s writing the first time I picked up ALANNA: THE FIRST ADVENTURE as a pre-teen in the mid-90s, and I found the books while cleaning out the basement recently. I decided to give them a second go and they were even better than the first time. Pierce’s writing is accessible to pre-teens and teenagers, but her writing also has a depth that can withstand the passage of time and prove a valuable reading experience for readers in their 20s and even 30s, even if they’ve read the series before.

Great contest! My favourite YA series at the moment is The Demons Lexicon (does a trilogy count as a series)?) by Sarah Rees Brennan I absolutely loved the first book and cannot wait for the second. Its dark, twisty funny and unputdownable Its set in the UK (where I live) which makes a refreshing change and makes it a little bit more real – as if the demons and Goblin Market didn’t do that on their own

    Oh me!! I want Book 2! :)

Okay, my favourite YA series at the moment is Sarah Rees Brennan’s (starting with THE DEMON’S LEXICON). I cannot wait for THE DEMON’S COVENANT – it is my most anticipated book of 2010. I’ve read Book 1 twice. I love it because the writing is some of the best I have ever seen in a debut YA book. Also, the characters are wonderful and fully-realized, despite the 3rd-person limited POV. Finally, they are funny and moving all at once – not an easy trick to pull off.

    Cheers,
    Kaz

Last spring I finished the Percy Jackson Olympian series. It is more of a middle grade book, but I still found it amazing. Also, I am very excited for the movie.

I have a thing for Vampires, so this fall I had picked up the House of Night Series, but was quite disappointed. It info dumps a lot. The series retells a lot. And then they cast a circle at the end and solve their problem in 5 pages. Furthermore, the time lines under which the stories happens are completely implausible.

Since this experience I have been a little weary of young adult, but have been longing to give it another chance. Please set me free and let me win a copy of these books. I really want to find my love for young adult again.

I have a lot of favorite series but, at the moment, Garth Nix’s Abhorsen trilogy (also known as the Old Kingdom series) wins my heart over. The world building and character development in all three books were spectacular. I savored the vivid details and really felt attached to the characters (loved Sabriel, Lirael, and Mogget to name a few).

At first, it felt like a darker version of Harry Potter, only with necromancers, and the dead. It wasn’t long, however, when that feeling was soon replaced by the books’ own prowess. And another thing that I loved about it is that the ending was great! My heart felt heavy that the trilogy was over, but the ending was very satisfying. It tied up loose ends and answers topics which most readers are curious about.

Actually, there will be two more additions to the Old Kingdom series but Nix mentioned in his Amazon blog the first one will be set 320 yrs. into the past (‘Clariel: The Lost Abhorsen’, out sometime this year! yay!) and the other several years into Abhorsen’s future (Untitled, 2011).

(P.S. It says that the contest is open to everyone, so I hope that includes bookworms all the way in Asia. *wave*)

By leaps and bounds it is Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games series. It was my first foray into YA reading and even though I’ve continued to read YA books, none meet the high standard Suz set for me. The series is politically thought provoking, a wonderful bit of romance, and the greatest cliffhangers ever. I actually might cry when this series ends I love it so much.

My favorite series right now is probably the Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter–it reminds me of my own silly high school, except there’s all this spying and intrigue!

The only YA series I’ve read so far is Twilight. But I’ve heard great things about other series, and even got the free pre-stories My Soul to Lose, and looking forward to reading these. :-)

I recently finished WAKE by Lisa McMann and loved it! I was intrigued by Janie and drawn to Cabel. I’d also love to read My Soul to Take and My Soul to Save.

My favorite YA series at the moment is probably either the Morganville Vampires or House of Night…I just really love vampires in general, and both series are interesting enough in their portrayals to be enjoyable. Would love to win these!

I am almost finished with Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr and am really enjoying it, so I think that will become one of my favourites.

I also really enjoyed The Forest of Hands and Teeth and am eagerly awaiting the release of The Dead Tossed Waves

The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins is definitely my top YA series at the moment. Why? Great characters, awesome plot, and just really good writing.

I will also admit that I’m hooked on Carrie Jones’ Need series. Spot-on reviews by the way. They are just a lot of fun.

I guess I’d have to say the Harry Potter series. I haven’t gotten to read many series and the last I read was the Twilight series which wasn’t as good as I thought it was going to be.

My favorite YA series right now is HP! I am sure I would have more if I could actually get around to reading the stuff out there! I have a HUGE TBR pile, and a very enticing selection of books at my local library!

My Favorite YA Series At The Moment Is The Vampire Academy Series My Richelle Mead. This Series Introduces Two Different Kinds Of Vampires Which Are Out Of The Ordinary. That Makes This Series A Breath Of Fresh Air. Not To Mention This Series Is Very Well Written By An Amazing Author. Then Of Course You Have The Angst That Most YA Books Are Known For Having Which Keeps You On The Edge Of Your Seat.

I don’t think my favorite YA series has a name yet. However, it is “Need” & “Captivate” by Carrie Jones. I love these books mainly because of the fantasy, but also because they’re something different than just another vampire book. Thanks!
