Book Smugglers Publishing Giveaways Superheroes The Extrahuman Union

Book Birthday and Giveaway: Extrahumans by Susan Jane Bigelow

In which we celebrate the publication day of Extrahumans by Susan Jane Bigelow!

We are delighted to announce the publication day of Extrahumans (The Extrahuman Union Series, #4) by Susan Jane Bigelow. This is the fourth and FINAL novel in the series–previously unpublished, and rounds out the fates of Penny, Sky Ranger, Jill, and Dee in The Extrahuman Union universe.

Extrahumans (final cover)

Being “The Sampler” isn’t easy. As the weakest member of the Extrahuman Union, Jill is overlooked by just about everyone. After all, no one cares about an Extrahuman who possesses every possible superpower, but can barely use any of them. Jill is a nobody, on the run and out of a job, with no home and barely any friends to her name.

To make ends meet, Jill turns back to one of her favorite jobs: stealing. When her latest job goes terribly wrong, Jill is left with a mysterious alien artifact—one that starts whispers to her, unlocks impossible powers, and shows her incredible things.

Now Jill is on a quest for answers that will take her from the high mountains of Valen to the depths of interstellar space; from a bizarre prison planet where old friends and enemies are held captive, to the roots of St. Val’s mysterious letters and decade-spanning plans. The fate of her friends, her world, a vanished alien species, and the entire Confederation will rest on Jill’s shoulders.

Extrahumans is a tale of superpowers and long-forgotten mysteries, and the fourth and final book in the critically acclaimed Extrahuman Union series

“Come for the superheroes, stay for the characters and world-building.” — A Fantastical Librarian

I’m not sure I have a favorite superhero story! Though, the new round of comic superhero television (or internet) programs are really stellar… heck, I didn’t really like Superman until the CW/WB’s Smallville…

I haven’t read yet, but am looking forward to reading Seanan McGuire’s Velveteen stories, and Carrie Vaughn’s Golden Age series…

And, of course… Extrahumans! (I cannot believe I hadn’t heard of the series before today.)

If it counts – I do like Neil Gaiman’s Sandman as a morally ambivalent superhero of sorts.

I will always have a soft spot for Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman.

Favourite superhero… must be Batman, or Spiderman. I’m currently enjoying the CW’s Flash a lot, however. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Watchmen and Sandman changed the way I considered superheroes.

I am reading Hero by Perry Moore right now and while not my favorite, I am enjoying more diversity in my superheros and will definitely add this one to the to be read list for the same reason.

I really love Carrie Vaughn’s “After the Golden Age,” such a refreshing take on the tropes of superheroes.

I’ve been reading superhero stories so long that it’s hard to choose just one favorite. But today I’ll chose The Days of Future Past comic, which was only two X-Men issues long.

I love the Super Book Smugglers, for their constant effort put behind the speculative fiction and for being the closest encounter I’ll have with superheroes. 🙂
Thank you guys for everything you are doing!

I’m actually not really a superhero fan. Most of my experience is just from superhero cartoons I’ve seen run and rerun and rerun and rerun in my country’s kids’ channels, and I had never been much of a fan of them. This is me exploring new horizons! I’m excited and I will definitely try to get my hands on the series with giveaway or no — the plot seems very interesting and I’ve been following Book Smugglers since before you guys opened your own publishing house. I love all the content you have been publishing so my hopes are high!
