Book Giveaway: The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan

Today we are delighted to work with Disney-Hyperion on a brand new book set in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians world–and offer up a sweet giveaway, to boot.

The Hidden Oracle is the first novel in the Trials of the Apollo series–a new series set in the Percy Jackson world, following the diety Apolloy (who has sadly since been confined to a mortal teenager’s body–without recourse or real magical skill).

About the Book:

TheHiddenOracleCOVER

After angering his father Zeus, the god Apollo is cast down from Olympus. Weak and disoriented, he lands in New York City as a regular teenage boy. Now, without his godly powers, the four-thousand-year-old deity must learn to survive in the modern world until he can somehow find a way to regain Zeus’s favor.

But Apollo has many enemies—gods, monsters, and mortals who would love to see the former Olympian permanently destroyed. Apollo needs help, and he can think of only one place to go . . . an enclave of modern demigods known as Camp Half-Blood.

My favorite story with ancient gods and humans is actually a Riordan fanfic! It’s called ‘contraction, punctuation’ and it’s an amazing Nico character study with some of the most gorgeous prose I’ve ever read. Also includes staggering Persephone & Nico conversations. http://archiveofourown.org/works/1074974

I like stories about the Indian gods because they aren’t things I’ve heard a million times before. I hope Rick Riordan works his way around to Hindu gods at some point.

So looking forward to Rick Riordan’s new book. They’re all so clever in the way he brings mythology into the mortal realm.

I was named Rhiannon, which means “good witch” for a Welsh goddess of the Otherworld, so I’ve always been partial to the Mabinogion 🙂

I don’t know if I can pick a favorite, but many of my go-to UF series feature ancient gods and how they function in the modern age. It definitely can make for interesting reading!
