Best of 2010 lists, etc…

You’ve probably noticed that a number of big scale publishers and retailers have released their Top 10 of 2010 lists, broken out by category and genre. Here are a few of the notable titles mentioned:

Amazon’s Top 10 SF/F Titles:

#2 – How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe: A Novel by Charles Yu (Ana’s Review)

#4 – The Half-Made World by Felix Gilman (we WILL be reviewing this very soon)

#5 – The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin (Ana’s Review, Thea’s Review)

Full list HERE (make sure to also check out their Top 10 Teen titles)

Kirkus’ 2010 Best Books for Teens (SF/F):

White Cat by Holly Black
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
Incarceron & Sapphique by Catherine Fisher
Guardian of the Dead by Karen Healey
Factotum by D.M. Cornish (I promise I will review this series before the year is up!)
A Conspiracy of Kings by Megan Whalen Turner
The Monstrumologist by Rick Yancey

Full list HERE (also check out their 2010 Top Contemporary Novels for Teens)

Of course, there are a number of titles and lists that we don’t agree with *cough*AMAZON*cough* but, hey, you’ll get to hear our opinion once Smugglivus rolls around (holy shnikies, dudes, Smugglivus is just around the corner)!

This Week on The Book Smugglers:

This week is a total kickback to Book Smuggler days of old – Ana is back on romance, and Thea goes back to her UF roots (ok, we still have some YA and fantasy in the mix, too). On Monday, Ana reviews Bright Young Things by Anna Godbersen.

Tuesday, she’s back to romantic side with a vengeance! It’s a PNR DOUBLE FEATURE with Ana’s reviews of Play of Passion by Nalini Singh and The Iron Duke by Meljean Brook. Squee!

On Wednesday, our very own Dude, Harry Markov, does his own PNR DOUBLE FEATURE with reviews of Scented Dreams by Jacqueline Turner Banks and Where the Rain is Made by Keta Diablo.

On Thursday (HAPPY TURKEY DAY!!), Thea is back with a vengeance doing her own UF DOUBLETAKE with reviews of Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews and Total Eclipse by Rachel Caine.

Friday, we close out the week with Ana’s review of The Lying Game by Sara Shepard and Thea’s review of Bewitched and Betrayed by Lisa Shearin.

It’s another ridiculously packed week, and we hope y’all enjoy it. With all the Turkey.

Until Monday, we leave you with this tantalizing tidbit.

SMUGGLIVUS.
It is coming.

I’m interested to see your thoughts on Bright Young Things and The Lying Game. I’ve read (though not yet reviewed) both. In fact, just finished up The Lying Game yesterday. I mentioned to Steph Su that I’ve not read The Pretty Little Liars series but I imagine it’s quite similar given the characters and plot.
