Smugglers’ Stash, News & Giveaway Winners
It is the END, my friends! THE END of YAAM! It was the best of months; we had loads of fun, we nearly collapsed under the stress but we.Did.It. And of course, we loved it! It is with a bit of sadness that we say goodbye to YAAM (until next year) and resume with the usual programme.
But before we move on, a little recap:
Books Reviewed: 32.
Some we loved, some we didn’t. One of them – Sisters Red – became a heated discussion about Rape Culture.
Thea’s Favourite YAAM Book: We by John Dickinson (barely beating out Pod by Stephen Wallenfels)
Ana’s Favourite YAAM Book: The Ghosts of Ashbury High by Jaclyn Moriarty
Fabulous Guest Posts:
- Michael Grant on writing the Gone Series
- Zetta Elliott on Diversity in YA
- Sarah Rees Brennan on Why Ya
- Interview with Malinda Lo on LGTB
- Zombies vs Unicorns: Diana Peterfreund and Carrie Ryan fight to the death (ours)
- Adam Jay Epstein and Andrew Jacobson on Inspirations and Influences
- Karen Healey on awesome female characters
And of course, The Party, an open post where bloggers added their own links to posts about YA.
Thus, we hereby declare YAAM officially over! See you next year.

Then, on Thursday we post our joint review of one of our most anticipated reads of 2010, The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson…
and finally on Friday, it is our turn to host the Official Mockingjay 13 District Blog Tour, as tributes from…
and Thea promised to rock it with her post about Katniss! Plus, we have a super cool giveaway! It is going to be awesome and I don’t even read the books (*ducks*) but I feel the tingly anticipation that reminds me of the good days of Harry Potter books! Good times.

About Us
We are two completely obsessed, sad, sick addicts when it comes to books. Faced with threats and cynicisms from our significant others and because of the massive amounts of time and money we spend at Amazon.com, we resorted to getting books delivered to our offices and then smuggling them into our homes (in huge handbags) to avoid detection. Here we found a perfect outlet for our obsession! Reviews, recommendations, and other ponderings are our specialty.Sponsors

*gasps* Ana! You haven’t read Hunger Gamesor Catching Fire??
I am appalled, young lady. Utterly appalled.
I know, right? It’s CRAZY. BUT I am actually waiting for the last book so that I can read all three together!
Good plan! I’ll be waiting with my gruby mitts out on the day of release ( mind you, I’ll have to fight off son, daughter and husband! It’s the only book that the entire family have all loved with equal fire.)
I’ve got Sisters Red sat waiting for me to read. I’ve read some good reviews about it. I enjoy YA books, even if I’m beyond that age group
Congrats to the winners. sounds like some good books.
Corr, I won a book!
Thanks for hosting some great giveaways!
You HAVEN’T read Catching Fire? I’ve read it twice already! For shame.
I’m looking forward to Monday. I bought The Ghosts of Ashbury Hugh based on your review (but haven’t read it yet) and I just saw The Year of Secret Assignments at Borders with a different cover, so I wonder if it has been reissued. I flipped to a random page and really liked what I read. Thinking about adding it to my to-buy list…
cool – just found you guys – so live all this linkage to check out.
and Jaclyn Moriarty is my number one writerly crush! been reading her since Celia came out here in Australia in 2000
So proud of her new US surge. She’s brilliant and whimsical and funny and nails teenagers. I love her unique style.
And, how cool are those ninja cookies!
Who won the thief takers apprentice
Congrats to the winners! And oh The Black Prism looks good!
Love the ninjabread men…or should that be ninjabreak persons?
I can’t believe that there’s someone out there who hasn’t read the HG series, despite the proof (millions of fans) that it’s amazing. Oh well.
Thanks for supporting great YA lit and conversations!
Looking forward to the new books. Congrats to the winners. Where did you find the cookie cutters?
Martin: we announced the winner of Thief Taker’s last week:

Hey, I’m like Ana too. I have the first two books but haven’t read them yet because I’m waiting for Mockingjay to come in the mail. That way I can read all three back to back!
Also, I see I won Dark Life. Thanks!!
