Ahem. In other news (besides the Lakers winning), Wil Wheaton and John Scalzi have teamed together to form a Fan Fiction Contest to benefit the Lupus Alliance of America. Here are the deets:
For the benefit of the Lupus Alliance of America, John Scalzi, Wil Wheaton and Subterranean Press are running a fan fiction contest, in which contestants write a 400 to 2,000 word story describing the picture above. Any form of fan fiction is acceptable except slash explicit sex. The winner of the contest will be paid for their story (10 cents a word), win a prize pack of books from Subterranean Press, and will have their story published in a special electronic chapbook featuring stories about the painting, written by Scalzi, Wheaton, Catherynne Valente and Patrick Rothfuss, to be published later this year, with profits to benefit the Lupus Foundation of America. E-mail the stories with the text in the e-mail to fanfic@scalzi.com by 11:59pm Eastern, June 30, 2010. One entry per person.

On Monday, it’s our Jackie Kessler day! We have awesome author Jackie Kessler over for a guest post, in which she talks about her newest book, Shades of Gray. Also, Ana reviews Shades of Gray, book 2 of the Icarus Project series.
Tuesday we have our official BEST OF 2010 SO FAR post – in which we talk about all the books we’ve read in 2010, and list our favorites of the year…so far. (Hint – the books above will definitely be on Teh List)
On Wednesday, Thea reviews graphic novels The End League Volume 1: Ballad of Big Nothing and Volume 2: Weathered Statues by Rick Remender. (Yes, it’s another alternate JLA-riff, in a post apocalyptic environment – so what?!)
Thursday, Ana reviews steampunkish/sci fi novel Retribution Falls by Chris Wooding (isn’t the cover gorgeous?)…
And on Friday we close out the week with Thea’s review of (the gargantuan tome!) The Passage by Justin Cronin.

KB – Well, given that I tend to like long, horrific books and you’re more of a straightup romance gal, I think THE PASSAGE is more up my alley than yours! So far, I’m loving the book. Then again, I think that I’m more indicative of the target audience than you are.

Thea: I love a good horror novel but as I read The Passage, the phrase, “I am the walrus, goo goo gaboob” was all I could think of!

The Demon’s Covenant > life. I am mildy obsessed by that series.
And I am truly terrible at tetris. That cartoon made me laugh because I always lose when the long skinny piece comes up. Which is the opposite of what should happen :p.
