I believe I am actually one of the very few who didn’t like Blackbringer. I couldn’t connect with Magpie b/c she was just so *good* and everybody who knew or encountered her adored her (except for her enemies). Maybe it would have been more interesting if there had been more chapters where the crows or other characters describe her from their point of view so I could actually see why she was so special…

On the positive side though, I loved the world-building immensely and I thought the magic system was very cool indeed.

I’m so glad to hear you both really liked this one! Now I can’t wait to hear what you think of Silksinger. I was a little hesitant about that one at first since it had some new characters that took time away from Magpie, but I ended up loving them.

And I definitely agree about Talon – he was great!

Yes! I have been hearing nothing but good, amazing things about these books. I’ll be looking for a copy now that they come even more highly recommended.
