*Unfortunately, not all characters (and storylines) are created equal – and I found myself growing bored with Vivenna’s (and at times with Vasher’s) plot threads.*

Thea, this was my main problem with the book. Unfortunately it really bogged down the experience for me. The worldbuilding is fantastic, and if I gave separate grades, it would get full marks, but since the characters were written in to be such a huge part, I did find the book lacking character-wise. Still, I'm really looking forward to reading the Mistborn books. One day!

Ana, added your read to my must be bought/read pile! Lighthearted reads are always useful. And appreciated. ;)

Sandy, I know exactly what you mean. I think that humour is something that is very hard to write and not all that is "funny" works for everybody the same way. I for example, happen to love The Office but most of my colleagues here at work, hate it. :D

I read Resenting the Hero after Ann Aguirre recommended it on her blog. Unfortunately, while I managed to finish it quickly, something about it just didn't work for me. I almost feel like giving it another try because everybody else seems to adore it. Maybe I just can't get over that cover. :D
