Why are you not reading Naomi Novik?

I don't know how I missed this last week, but I am now adding it to my TBR list to get sooner rather than later.

Wow! This sounds great.

I read a lot of anthologies, and this is one of THE MOST STELLAR line-ups of contributors I have EVER seen.

I think Temeraire will always be my favorite dragon. I have listened to all the book on cds for that series this year and fell in love. Naomi Novik is a genius. A lot of thought provoking issues are raised and it is interesting to see how Temeraire and the other dragons reason things out. Plus Simon Vance does an excellent job with voices.
This book sounds great! Thanks for the review.

AnimeJune - would you believe if I told you that this was first with all these authors? Gaah. I know, I suck.

Oh, I wants this collection, I wantsssss it. I adore Beagle, Pierce, Tad Williams (even his verboseness which at times puts Dickens to shame), and Liz Williams (whose Detective Inspector Chen novels are a MUST read, absolutely phenomenal worldbuilding, humour, and horror).

I should be reading Naomi Novik, but we lost the 1st book in the series at home and I've been too lazy to get the first one at the library. Bad me!

Also good dragon books - Robin Hobb's Farseer, Liveship Traders, and Tawny Man trilogies. Brilliant stuff, and a really interesting take on how dragons are born and develop.

Holy Lots of Stories, Batman!

You encourage me, because I've been turned off of anthologies after reading a recent historical romantic one that shall remain nameless in which I was bored by or actively disliked 5 out of 5 stories, and a fantasy romance one which shall remain equally nameless in which I thought three were 'meh', one was pretty good but didn't leave me panting to seek out the author's backlist, and loved 1 - but that was from an author I already knew I loved.

So in terms of collecting previously unknown to me authors I wanted to read in more depth, I came up with 0 out 9.
