Wonderful post, ladies! I’m so glad you encouraged everyone who wants nothing to do with the awards to participate in the week. As you say, the awards are only a part, it just seems that they’re the part which requires the most organization! I volunteered on two panels and it was really time-consuming but well worth it. There are ways the criteria could be improved, but I think the panels are a better method overall than the original popularity contest method employed last year.

Anyway, congratulations on your nominations! I was happy to vote for you. I don’t comment much but I love your blog!

Thanks for this post. So far it has been the best explanation of how the panelists scored the nominees. And I totally agree that BBAW is not just about awards (and that coming from someone who was neither a panelist nor made the shortlist). I think that there has been so much focus on the awards (out of necessity) in the lead up to BBAW and hopefully we’ll soon be moving on to other aspects.

This is a great post and I just love how you encouraged participation. For me, it hasn’t been about the awards. I simply volunteered to be a panelist to ease Amy’s burden a little.

I really love the interview exchanges and other activities that go on during BBAW…That is the best part and then that Google Reader goes out of control once more!

Here, here! Well said. Let’s make this all about the fun. Congrats on the huge honors, and many thanks for serving on a panel. It is all so exciting. I told myself that it was not important, and then lost my mind when I found out I was shortlisted in one category. Such grace, such composure. Best part of all of this? Reaching outside my normal list of reads to blogs like yours and really enjoying it. Btw, if there was a prize for best banner, I would vote for you. Happy reading!
