Thanks so much for replying to my question. I love YA and have a very precocious reader in the house with whom to enjoy reading. But keeping her as young as possible as long as possible by not introducing topics she’s not asking about herself is still a good goal *sigh*. We have years to get here, but my list of books is getting unbelievably long! Thanks in large part to those darn Book Smugglers!

I love all kinds of fantasy books and can't wait to check it out. Right now I am finishing up "Rumer & Qix: The Race to Terra Incognita," by Kathleen S. Wilson- a great futuristic fantasy story about a 16 year old girl in the 31st century. I will be so sad when it is over. However I love the fact that I have another book to turn to once I have finished it- thanks for suggesting it!

Killer unicorns, *lol* – are they just supposed to be rather vicious supernatural animals, or are they sentient enemies?

Stillll….I do like the idea of nice, or at least non-violent, unicorns…*clutches copy of Peter S Beagle’s classic*

Also – Lord of Legends, a romance where the HERO is a unicorn, is on my TBR. That’ll be an interesting book to compare, heh heh heh.

This review has certainly made me want to run out and get this book right away!

I’m still a bit hesitant about the importance of virginity in the story, but I’m hoping it’s as nuanced a topic as your review makes it sound (and not more like the author trying to aggressively promote abstinence).

That’s probably up to you to decide as her mother. The book is written for teens and there is some talk about the pressures on teens to have sex. Has your daughter read Twilight? If so, this one is probably fine.

Can I ask a lazy question? Would my ten year old enjoy or be horrified? She’s right on the cusp of loving her some sparkly unicorns and wanting to grow up to be a vampiress. She’s read all Harry Potter and didn’t seem too disturbed by the darkness.

Oh fine, I should read it myself (my life is so hard) and decide.
