I was interested in this to begin with, but as soon as I realized that it had Gambit in it, I fell straight into, "OMG MUST SEE RIGHT AWAY!!!" territory. He's my very favourite X-Man, and was actually my introduction to the series back when I was fifteen. I got on board just as his own series launched, and I bought it faithfully into it was canceled. (Sigh). I'm hoping I can convince a fellow X-Men-loving friend to see this with me tomorrow or Sunday.

Meljean and Thea, thanks for both your explanations.

That is a pretty cool explanation for Reynolds' character - and no, I swear I'm not just saying that because I want to have kittens with him, whatever the hell he'd ask me to have with him, actually. Rutabagas for all I care.

I loved the comics and the cartoon! They have a new cartoon that is called Wolverine and the Xmen on Nicktoons. My son loves it (it makes me so proud)! I haven't caught any of them yet. I can't wait to see the movie! I am trying to arrange to go with my best friend but we are having some scheduling conflicts so if we can't get it together I just might have to go by myself!!! This post was the best!!!! Called up a lot of nostalgia and just made me that much more crazy about seeing this movie ASAP!

Thanks for all the props guys! I am SO excited for my tix tomorrow night! *banana dance*

Tiah - Oh, you should definitely check out the three X-Men films ;) They are all solid (in my opinion, X-2 is the best), and what can I say? Hugh Jackman is worth the cost of entry alone.

Daya - Thanks!! And happy soon-to-be birthday! I hope you enjoy the film. The cartoon is epic, isn't it? I still watch them from time to time (including today, after writing this post, lol).

Katie - you have NO idea ;) Check out DIK tomorrow. I have the Gambit-Rogue rundown.

Anna - The 6th isn't so far off, don't fret  Ana and I *might* have a review up by Sunday, so if you want an early opinion, we might be able to help you out!

Gerd - I definitely feel that if I hadn't watched the cartoon or read the comics before seeing the film, I would have been fine with Rogue and Storm...but as I had, I can't express how much I hate what Anna Paquin and Halle Berry did to two of my all time favorite heroines

As for Mystique and Wolvie, recently there was a mini with the two of them ;) Mystique is badass, and I did really like the re-imagining they did with Rebbecca Romaijn.

Meljean - OMG YOU'RE BACK!!! *happy dance* I'm scared of what might happen to Gambit too *bites nails nervously* For one thing, why does his accent sound Texan southern and not Cajun French? I'd prefer it if he were a bit older too (i.e. Josh Holloway older...but I'm biased). I *hate* the hats he wears in his promos. But, I have hope. I hope, I hope, I hope. :-)

And dude, we heart you too  *starts humming theme music*

Have you ever seen the original promo for the cartoon? The intro song is hilarious. "X-Men! Fighting Time! X-Men! Fighting to Save The Day!"

edifanob - Oh awesome! You and your wife will have a blast ;) I can't wait to see what you think of the film. Man, I'm excited.

KMont - Aww...if you lived near me, I would totally take you out to see the movie :) So, Ryan Reynolds fan, eh? Deadpool is, in short, crazy as hell. He volunteered for Weapon X (like Wolverine did) but washed out, then was placed in a program where he was tortured and experimented on along with the other washouts, and they all placed bets in a "Dead Pool" (who would die next). When he made it out, he returned to his life as a Merc for Hire, and took on the moniker Deadpool. And...he's freaking crazy, did I mention that? :p

As for Gambit, what Meljean said. Gambit has black eyes with red irises; but in the picture Ana uploaded it looks like it has been photoshopped. The Gambit in the movie (so far as the promos and previews go) has regular eyes. Sigh.

Kati - Awesome! I can't wait to see what you think of the movie. AND I too cannot wait for Star Trek. I was hesitant, and to a certain extent still am wary about the film despite the good reviews, primarily because they are using the same cast of characters but 're-imagining' them again. BUT, that said...I'm still excited.

And everyone I know that has watched Friday Night Lights says it is brilliant. I really need to netflix that show!

Orannia - It totally is a huge, worldwide coordinated event! Eeeeeee I cannot wait!

Samantha - Oooh, high five! Isn't Storm the shit? I actually used to think (when I was around 9 years old, mind you) that I could really start and stop the rain if I concentrated hard enough. No, I am not delusional. Weather power RULES. TMNT totally rules too, and I also loved the Batman series (thinking back...I was/am a huge couch potato). Gambit and Rogue are heart-meltingly awesome. I spent about 2 hours today looking through my favorite Romy moments in prep for a post tomorrow. *melts* Damn, I love those two. And Ana and I are glad we were able to get the memory juices flowing!

Fantasy Dreamer - Oh hell yes, you tell that hubby you are going! :p I hope you enjoy it! For the mancandy at the very least ;)

Aymless - Oh NOES, your parents didn't believe in the power of the morning cartoon!? Gaah. Well, I'm glad you were able to sneak them in ;)

Great Post! Myself, I can't to see this movie. I already told my husband, I'm going with or without him. I'm all for Wolverine's character to cheer on but as far as cuties go in the movie, I'm in the Ryan Reynolds camp. ;)

Kmont -- I'm not sure how it'll look in the movie, but comic book Gambit has black eyes (where the whites should be) with red irises. So they might be going for that effect.

My love of X-Men started the same way Thea.
After I started watching it I used to pretend I was Storm when I had my cereal bowl full of milk (way to control the weather, blowing into a cereal bowl, lol). I loved TMNT around that time too, but could never really get into the Batman cartoon.
I think out of all the superhero movies that studios have pumped out (newest Batman excluded), I've been the happiest with X-Men.

My favs from watching the cartoon were Gambit and Rogue and now that Gambit's in this one I can't wait!

Great post Ana and Thea! Thanks for bringing back the memories! I had forgotten about the intro tune and as soon as you mentioned it I heard it, lol!

Ahaaaa! It must be a worldwide release, as it is being released here today (which is 1 May)! I definitely want to see it...and I'm intrigued to see how they portray Gambit.

I was introduced to the X-Men cartoon by one of the guys in my netball team (for those non-Commonwealth residing people, it's a bit like basketball, but you can't move with the ball...if that makes sense :) ) And I've watched all three movies. Wolverine has always been my favourite :)

For those of you watching it this weekend - enjoy!
