I skimmed the review as soon as I saw mention of this Jesse dude. I just started reading the book and don’t know who he is yet! I want to discover it for myself. I love when my Book Smugglers give disparate grades on a book. It makes me want to find out who’s right! LOL j/k

Another great joint review! I seem to be in the minority since I prefer the Jax books so far (mainly because like you, Thea, I got annoyed with Corine when she went on and on about just how hot the guys looked). Definitely enjoyed the drama resulting from damaged individuals, though, and have to agree with Ana about rooting for Chance.

Ana & Kat have interpreted the text as I meant — as an indication they have both changed. She no longer cares so desperately about pleasing him and he’s lost some of his iron control. As noted, they’re not quite where they need to be in order to make it work, but they aren’t the same people as when she left, either.

Katie – Haha!! You are definitely welcome to come over to my abode should the zombie apocalypse occur And as for Corine seeming much more real than Sirantha, I have to whole-heartedly agree with you.

As for Jesse…well, I have nothing against a good triangle, but I disagree with you a bit there. What I think I disliked about that quote above so much (besides the fact that in the version I had it was a different word than “bitch” that really didn’t work for me in the context of the scene) was that even if I felt the way Ana does (masterfully explained in her part of the post) about Chance and Corine’s backgrounds as ‘damaged goods’, they only ever confront their feelings for each other after meeting Jesse and Chance gets jealous (and apparently hugely turned on). I can appreciate that there might be a lot going on here — as Ana, you and Kat awesomely point out! — but I’ll chalk it up to my own stupid mental block. There’s something cheesy and funny to me in the random erection. Of course, I also laugh at the word “nipple” and have the maturity of an 11 year old when it comes to this sort of thing…

so it could just be me. If Ana, and the general reaction to [i]Grimspace[/i] is any indicator, I’m sure almost all other readers will love [i]Blue Diablo[/i] and not have the same problems as I!

Kmont – Dude, I have a feeling you will love this book! I cannot wait to see what you think of it

Kat – A totally valid point and the fact that both you and Ana feel the same way about the passage (and other characterizations in the book) speaks volumes! I’m sure I’m the black sheep of blogland here I’ll make sure to check out your review!!

I quoted the same text in my review, and I remember wondering if I loved it because I was projecting how I want their relationship to be, but then I came to the same conclusion as Ana–that it shows that Corine and Chance have changed and it’s a moment where maybe they start to realise it.

And I’m with katiebabs. If an ex I wasn’t fully over were there, I’d be angsting and thinking inappropriate thoughts, zombies or no. Which probably means I’d be first to die in the zombie apocalypse.

Thea, you are a blood thirsty wench! If there ever is a zombie Apocalypse, I am coming to your house.
Honestly, it I were in Corine’s shoes, I would be doing all that pondering about Chance and then Jesse. I don’t think Jesse was just placed in the story as a convenient character to bring tension to Corine and Chance.
Corine seemed to real to me, more so than Jax in Grimspace.
