Oh, this does sounds good! Thank you! And can I take a little SQUEEEE moment - Emily Gee is a New Zealander :) Her father wrote one of my favourite books - Under The Mountain (which BTW is being made into a movie with Sam Neil).

My library doesn't have it yet, but I'll keep an eye out for it. And point noted about it not being 'dark fantasy'...otherwise I would be comparing it to Melusine :)

I also saw this at FBC, and was interested because I've had Emily Gee's Thief With No Shadow on my tbb list for a while, but just haven't gotten around to tracking it down. Now, with your review adding to what they said about The Laurentine Spy, this is now going to the top of the booklist. :-)

A really good review. My copy will arrive soon. I'm still thinking who I will copy with all the romance.
I expected a bit more fantasy. But I won't to judge before I've read the book.

As a rule, I don't read Dark Fantasy so I never would've found this book on my own. My TBR pile does not thank you. I expect it to become sentient any time now and go on strike.
