I found Dr M distracting, too --but in a good way. lol ;-)

I read it last year and it blew me away.
I'll watch the movie in 3 days.

I read a lot of comments about the movie in the past days. It seems that many people went to cinema with wrong expectations. This isn't either a FANTASTIC FOUR nor a BATMAN movie. This is WATCHMEN. And I think you have a big advantage when you read the novel before.

Anyway I want to see my favorite character RORSCHACH on a big, big screen.

And I want the WATCHMEN and THE BLACK FREIGHTER dvd.

Fortunately there will be a long WATCHMEN version on dvd: Zack Snyder says WATCHMEN DVD will be 3 hours 25 minutes!

I agree pretty much with your review. I had problems in the book with anyone being "the smartest man in the world", but the movie made it ridiculous. That actor was NOT IT. And there is NO way he could have picked up the Comedian!

But Rorschach was indeed brilliant. And from the photos of Nite Owl, I thought they had picked someone really buff when he's supposed to be more average. Turns out that was just the costume and the actor was very well cast.

And I found Dr Manhattan's naughty bits distracting, just like they are in the book. Dude needs some pants :D

We saw it this afternoon at the Cinerama Dome, and it rocked! I haven't read it, though it's been sitting on my shelf (courtesy of the husband) for years. It didn't occur to me to read it ahead until a couple of days ago, and I didn't have the time to read it, but I will definitely read it now. I'm really curious about the different ending.
I LOVED Rorschach, and when he was unmasked, it was amazing. The actor was perfect, and his growly voice exactly what the part called for. Who'd've thought, the kid from Bad News Bears?
Dr Manhattan was my other favorite, both the character and the portrayal by Billy Crudup.
The other "character" that made such an impact on me was the soundtrack. Maybe it's being a product of the 70's and 80's, but each song resonated and added another layer to its scene.
My husband is a giant fan-boy. He loved it. The different ending didn't bother him, though it really bugged our friend who saw it with us.
It was cool to see it at the Cinerama Dome, 'cause they had the costumes from the movie on display. Let me tell you, Malin Ackerman must have legs like a stick, cause those vinyl leggings things were tiny. 8O OK, and the sex scene was so written by a man. That was all I could think of when all she was wearing were the boots/leggings. Might have looked sexy, but uncomfortable as hell.

I actually read the book a few weeks ago for the first time. My very favorite is when Dr. Manhattan is on Mars. I had shivers going down my arms. I hated the end. Sorry, but I did. I thought it was a rip-off.

I haven't seen the movie yet. I hate going to the theater, so will more than likely wait to watch it on DVD. I'm glad y'all liked it though. Knowing how you review, it's good to know there's an excellent chance I will love it. :D
