Lost Recap: 05 x09 Namaste
This week in our Lost recap: Season 5 Episode 9 – Namaste

The episode opens and our people are in the plane. I am guessing we are going to find out what happened to the non-O6ers? Frank is piloting and the co-pilot is all can you believe that guy? The one with the curly hair? he is one of the O6 and he is flying again! Frank is all like a-ha

The guy is our Hurley of course who when the plane starts to shake is all like: dude you better fasten your seat belt.

Then Swoooosh, they are gone. We know what happened to them..but…

The plane is all shaking and they need to land and they see the island and

a runway…and I am like hummm, is that? can it be? the runway that Sawyer and the others were building when they were taken by the Others?

They crash and the co-pilot is kaput. Then Frank gets his act together and goes to the back

where he finds… SUN???!!! But wait. She is an O6er! Shouldn’t she be all flashlighted too??? What does that meaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan??? They look for the others and they are all gone…then Ben shows up and Frank asks …where are they gone and Ben says…

“How would I know” Man, how come I NEVER believe him? Then we cut to……30 years earlier!!!!!!!!!!
and I am like aaaaaaaaaaaaaa eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaaaa whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?
OMG Sun, Ben, Locke are in a different time!!! Sheeeeeeesh kebabs!

Back to the past: it’s reunion time again.

Hurley is all like OMG you are alive! They run to each other and

they hug and it’s awwww so cute.Sawyer calls him Kong and Hurley is all like: oh man I even missed the nicknames.
Needless to say, the smile on my face is HUGE.

It disappears when Jack is all like, oh hello there mister. And Sawyer is all serious, hey Jack. They shake hands.

Next up is Kate, I hoped he would call her Freckles but he doesn’t….but they hug very nicely

whilst the Douchebag watches *insert evil laugh*

Then Sawyer is all like, I can’t believe Locke did it! You are here, but where is he?

But Jack is his typical self and says John is dead but it doesn’t matter how bla bla bla. Then he asks how come they are wearing Dharma suits? Are they back to the island? Then Sawyer says…nope YOU are back. In TIIIIIIIIIME. Muwhahahahaha.

And they are all WTF? Are you telling me you have lived with the Dharma all this time? Sawyer says yes then asks how long has it been for them. They say 3 years and bla bla bla.

Hurley is really impressed with Jin’s English and he is like: Dude your English is awesome. Then they ask who else is back…

And Jack says….Sayid, Lapidus and…..*gulps*( It seems he scared of Jin) Sun , then he hides behind the van. No, I am joking he didn’t….

But I bet he wish he did, cause you know Jin…he is scary sometimes. And he is really NOT happy that they brought his wife back to the Island of Doom.

So he runs to the jeep to try and locate the others and the plane – obviously he doesn’t know that they are somewhere else in TIIIIIIIIIIIME. Muwahahaha.

Meanwhile Juliet and Miles are worried about Sawyer who tells Jack, Kate and Hugo that he is going to come up with a plan. So he runs home to get some clothes….

And he tells Juliet that they are back. She looks very surprised and not in a happy way. “I don’t understand it any more than you do. But they’re here, and I gotta find a way to bring ‘em in, before somebody else finds ‘em, and they screw up everything we got here.” and I am like oh, SHIT, they got USED to it. Now what????

The Flame station. This guy, Radzinsky, is working on a model of the Swan Station when Jin walks in and demands he does a search for a plane. But Radzinsky is all high and mighty and says, if there was a plane I would know by now.

Then Jin asks POLITELY by shoving him against the wall and he contacts the other stations but there is no sign of a plane.

Back to the future: Frank is telling people that rescue will come soon but Sun knows better than that. She sees Eviiiil Ben sneaking out and goes after him…

And he totally gives me the creeps in this scene where he is just standing there and she asks where he is going and he says…back to our island, do you wanna jooooooooooin meeee? Because you see, they crashed in the smaller island where the Hydra station is. And Ben knows where there are boats. We don’t know Sun’s answer because we go back to…

1977. And Juliet is talking to Michelle-from-24 who just had a baby that she should rest and she would take care of the sub’s manifest. Then, she asks if they decided the name of the baby yet and Amy says, yet we did, and it’s ETHAN and I am all like holy shit it’s Ethan! Ethan! but but but but he is an OTHER! But he was born a Dharmite? Then Amy asks when Juliet and Sawyer will have one and Juliet is all sad and says the time needs to be right and I think, yeah like NEVER. But poor Juliet, she is feeling the approach of DOOM, AKA Kate.

Then Sawyer returns to the O6ers and gives them clothes. Explains his plan: They are supposed to pretend they are new recruits just arriving with the sub. It is very clear who is the leader now.

Back at the Flame an intruder’s alarm goes off and

Jin runs to the jungle…

And finds Sayid! Sayid is all like JIN??!! And Jin is all like, where is Sun? then freaking Radzinsky shows up and Jin has to be really really mean to Sayid and takes him prisoner. Sayid for all intents and purposes, is now an Other. Oh, the irony.

Then Sawyer drives them back to Dharmaville. On the way, Hurley asks if he remember the not so small detail that all the Dharma people are killed in the near future. Sawyer says that he is not there to play Nostradamus and that Faraday has interesting ideas about what they can and can’t do there.
And Jack is all like, oooooooooooo is Faraday here then? Sawyer says: not anymore. SHIT. What happened? does it have to do with the very first scene this season when Faraday showed up at the moment they found the Wheel of Time????

Anyways, they are in Dharmaville now.

Sawyer “welcomes” the new recruits. He and Kate share a moment. And I am so conflicted about this. Part of me is all like BAD Sawyer. You are as good as married now. Back away slowly. Another says: jump her! kiss her! take her!

For the most part, I really just drool. Seriously, can this man BE any cuter?

Please take a moment to compare with this example of prime specimen. NOT.
Then Sawyer says they need to join the other newcomers and everything will be alright. He will take care of it.

Miles sees them too and is all like, they are back? And I wonder: what is the point of Miles? Why is he still here?

Then Jin calls and says: oh we have a situation. We got a hostile. And… it’s Sayid. Sawyer runs.

Back to the future: Sun decided to follow Ben and Frank is all like: are you for real? Do you trust this guy? He is dangerous.

Not as dangerous as Sun right now, cause when he turns his back to her. SMACK. She knocks him out. Frank: “I thought you trusted this guy?” Sun: “I lied.” woohoooooooooo! Ninja-Sun is nearly as cool as Ninja-Jin and Ninja-Sayid. Frank and Sun just leave him there and sail away.

In the past, Jack and Kate are worried that they can’t pull it off and really, who could blame them. It must be SURREAL to meet….

in person the guy from all those Dharma videos and then have the same guy tell you that according to aptitude tests, he’s been assigned to the janitorial staff.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Jack is now a “workman”

Then Kate is in trouble. Her name is not on the list. Then Juliet comes to the rescue. They need to pretend that they don’t know each other and they are really not very friendly to one another. I wonder…..and I think this is Juliet’s way of saying: listen biatch. I have the power over your life and yes, I have the man you shagged up against those cage bars – keep your hands to yourself and all will be fine, capice?

Then, Sawyer goes to Sayid’s rescue and Radzinsky wants to kill him because he has seen the Swan model. I am like, jeez man, paranoid much? The model really looks like it’s made of tooth picks and who could possibly know this is to be a super-sekrit station?

Then Sayid sees Sawyer and I am like, poor Sayid is your head about to explode already?

Then Sawyer says: “The terms of the truce say you gotta identify yourself as a hostile, or we got the right to shoot you.”
So Sayid, who is no fool, gets his meaning, says he is an Other and they take him prisoner. They can’t just kill him now.

Back to the future: Frank and Sun arrive in our island.

They arrive in Othersville and is all deserted and destroyed. It’s really dark and scary and there are whispers! the return of the Whispers!!! then a light is turned on and I am like aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, OMG. Hold me, Dear Partner.

And it’s Christian freaking Shephard!!!!!!!!!! They ask about Jin and he says follow me. and they do. Cause you know, you do follow the stranger in the deserted, destroyed village because he looks so trustworthy.

Christian takes them inside one of the houses and says her husband is with her friends. He shows them a photo and

it’s our guys in 1977! He tells Sun: “I’m sorry, but you have a bit of a journey ahead of you.” Jaysus.

Back in the past: they are just taking the photo when

Sayid is brought in still handcuffed from the plane.

Sawyer takes him to a cell: and says “All right, you can hang out here until we can figure out what the hell to do with you.” then he looks at Sayid with his squinty eyes. And that’s all. They have no chance to talk or for explanations. Poor Sayid, in the dark , how much he can take you think?

Then Jack looks for Sawyer. He finds his house and Juliet opens the door.

Half-crying (duh) , they share a moment and a look (DIE QUADRANGLE OF DOOM DIIIIIIIIIE)

They hug and now he is crying. Sort of. The dumbass is all like, oh, I was looking for Sawyer I guess I came to the wrong house. Abd Juliet all calmly says, it’s the right house. She lets him in and he sees Sawyer…

Sawyer sitting very comfortably reading and drinking a beer. Good Night Doc, he says. and I am like hihihihih
Jack, yes, he took another woman from you. SCORE!
Then Juliet leaves them all alone.

And Jack is all like what are we going to do…about Sayid for starters? Sawyer says: “He was running around the jungle, got caught by my people. And seein’ as how he can’t tell the truth about how he got here, I had to improvise.”
Then Jack says, then what? Sawyer says he is working on it. Then the stupid Jack-ass says from his high horse: “Really? Because it looked to me like you were reading a book.” Oh the condescending bastard.

Sawyer is really cool about it though and he talks about how Churchill read a book every day, even during the Blitz — that it made him think better.and I am like. ha? what? wait!!! Sawyer has all my attention now (not that he didn’t have it before but you get my meaning, I can feel this is going to be good. )

Jack is baffled but Sawyer continues with the most awesome awesome of the lines EVER in the history of TV Shows – any TV show:

“That’s how I like to run things. I think. I’m sure that doesn’t mean that much to you, ’cause back when you were calling the shots, you pretty much just reacted. See, you didn’t think, Jack. And as I recall, a lot of people ended up dead.”
OH MY GOD. Folks, if I tell you I was crying with happiness in that scene would you believe me? Because I was. He had me at “I think”.

Then Jack says: “I got us off the island.”And I am like EXCUSE ME? YOU STUPID SON OF A BITCH. You got SIX, SIIIIIIIIIIX people off the island. And can I ask you one question? where are you NOW ha??? Ha????

Then Sawyer says: “But here you are — right back where you started. So I’m gonna go back to reading my book, and I’m gonna think.’Cause that’s how I saved your ass today. And that’s how I’m gonna save Sayid’s tomorrow.”
OH MY GOD. ………………….. <<<<<<< *Ana flatlines*

He walks Jack to the door. I will take care of things, you can sleep. Ain’t that a relief, Jack?

Jack (with tears in his eyes – naturally) says: yeah.
We need to take a moment here, my friends. I find myself without words. No, I lie. I do have one word: VINDICATION.
This is hands down the ONE moment I had been waiting for: for someone to tell Jack how it is. And the fact that, out of all people, it was Sawyer, the anti-hero, my favorite character is only the cherry on top. No, not only the cherry on top, clearly it is the most awesome thing ever.
Of course, this means one of two things: 1) Sawyer is going to screw things up royally and Jack will save the day. 2) Sawyer is going to die. Because he reached the pinacle of his arc now. He is redeemed – he got the women, he got the leadership, he is loved, respected and he is obviously the most good-looking man on TV. Ergo, he will die.
I am not being a pessimist: I am just preparing myself for the day my heart is going to be ripped off my chest with a spoon.

Then Sawyer shares another moment with

Kate and honestly: I am CLUELESS if I know if this woman feels anything for anyone.

Then Sayid is at his cell when someone brings him a sandwich. And he know that it’s:

Ben! when he was a child. Ben asks if he is a hostile. Sayid says Do you think I am a hostile. Ben asks what is his name. Sayid says and asks the boy’s – My heart is going BUM BUM BUM right now – the boy says Ben

Sayid is SHOCKED and he says….nice to meet you …Ben.
*Sayid’s head explodes*
LOST.
Now what? next episode is Sayid’s – what the hell is going to happen?
Meanwhile I will rejoice and just be happy about the Jack and Sawyer scene. That was….heaven. Needless to say, I loved this episode, if only because of that scene.
I have just one question: WHERE IS DESMOND??????????

10 One of the best books I have ever read9 Damn near perfection8 Excellent7 Very good6 Good, recommend with reservations5 Meh, take it or leave it4 Bad, but not without some merit3 Horrible, barely readable2 Complete waste of time1 One of the worst books I have ever read; I want my money (and a few hours of my life) back0 Did not finish

“Ninja-Sun”… LOL!!!
I am totally using that line the next time my hubby complains that I am reading again!
Him “Your reading again??!!??”
Me “It helps me think. That’s I run this house, I think!”
***AWESOME!***
Oh I so agree with you on that scene between Sawyer and Jack!! There have been many great scenes in Lost over the years but that one ranks as number one in my book. In the battle that is between the Jackites and the Sawyerones – that has to be the best smackdown, knock-out, lights out scenes evah! If I wasn’t already solidly footed in the Sawyer camp, I would have joined quicker then you could say Red Rover, Red Rover.
When Jack said ‘what are WE going to do?’ I thought ‘you lame Jack ASS you – what a fucking moron. As if you gave a rat’s ass for anyone else on the island besides yourself when you were the quasi leader and abandoned them to their fate 3 years ago.
Kristie, I heart you . “Jackites and Sawyerones ” = WIN. That scene is going down as one of the best ever. Definitely.
Karen – seriously, the woman is kicking ass this season. The Korean couple scare me
Tiah: what a GREAT idea.
This is so freaky. You guys are FREAKS! Reading it, having only watched the first season, it’s like an aburdist play.
also, dammit, I loved Sayid.
Heh Heh Heh – Freaks we are indeed. Ana does THE best recaps! Of all the people I work with, only one is as big a freak about Lost as I am. Lucky for me she sits right across from me and we have our weekly Thursday morning Lost chat about the previous night’s Lost episode. The people around us just stare ’cause since they haven’t been watching for a few years now – if at all – they are so totally lost in what we are talking about.
Ooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
That is all.
I still think what I always thought Desmond beat-up Ben in the episode where Jack gets locke’s body. can back-up my theory too.
