Smugglers Weekly Stash and News
An Announcement:
We will be having another super-ultra special event this weekend: starting on Friday with our pre-release joint review of Shades of Dark (the sequel to Gabriel’s Ghost) by Linnea Sinclair, which comes out in July. Also on Friday our good friend, the lovely Katie(babs) from Ramblings on Romance will also be posting her review of Shades of Dark. Will we agree or disagree this time? Oh,the tension!
The event continues on Saturday with an exclusive interview with Linnea Sinclair and the giveaway of one copy of Shades of Dark to one lucky winner!
Around Blogsphere:
Speaking of Linnea Sinclair , Jace Scribbles is also having a pre-release contest with a lot of goodies to be given away. The contest is open until July 5th.
Ramblings on Romance is having a very interesting interview with Anton Strout, author of Dead to Me. They are giving away a copy of the book so rush rush, to read the interview and comment!
And on our final moment of pimpage, The Book Binge is having a Summer contest where you can win a WHOLE BAG OF BOOKS! Check it out: Bag of Goodies
Other random news:
In the category of “Movies we are dying to see this summer”, I believe new X-Files movie ranks in the top …….2? There are a couple of new stills from the movie going around the net:
But they are still nothing like that one promo pic from People Magazine:
And talking about Summer movies, Wall-E , the new Pixar movie comes out this weekend. Here is one of the cute teasers:
Also, out tomorrow on DVD is another page-to-screen film: The Spiderwick Chronicles
If you didn’t catch this one in theaters, give it a rental. Sure, it’s no Prince Caspian, but it is a fun fairy tale style romp that pleasantly took me by surprise. I was especially pleased with the child actors–Freddie Highmore, aka the wunderkind of Finding Neverland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory fame does a marvelous job of playing twin characters…with an ‘American’ accent (he’s British). The Spiderwick Chronicles is an adaptation of the young adult series of the same name from Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi. For anyone suffering from Harry Potter withdrawal, this film is nice filler while we wait impatiently for Half-Blood Prince to hit theaters in November!

About Us
We are two completely obsessed, sad, sick addicts when it comes to books. Faced with threats and cynicisms from our significant others and because of the massive amounts of time and money we spend at Amazon.com, we resorted to getting books delivered to our offices and then smuggling them into our homes (in huge handbags) to avoid detection. Here we found a perfect outlet for our obsession! Reviews, recommendations, and other ponderings are our specialty.Sponsors

Love the pimpage!
Doesn’t Jillian Anderson have such wonderful hair? Sigh, I want her hair.
Oh my gosh what an exciting summer this is going to be! Can’t wait to read the reviews and the interview.
fwiw, I’ll be doing a feature on Linnea and a giveaway in August over at The Galaxy Express.
I can’t wait for X-FILES. I love Gillian Anderson to pieces–she’s one of my favorite actors, and not just because of her work in X-FILES.
Also, I just came from seeing Prince Caspian and adored it–so wow, when I see you talk about all of my favorite things in the same post I just want to burst out into song.
Katie–there’s no charge for pimpage awesomeness.
And Gillian is my girl crush of forever (she and Elizabeth Mitchell, aka the lovely Juliet from LOST). I am digging the long hair, although I do kinda miss her no nonsense bob.
Heather, this summer is going to be amazing!!!! The X-Files trailers have me all hyped up–oh also, for anyone interested, Harper Collins has re-released the old X-Files books in preparation for the movie! I read them before (I was really obsessed with the X-Files…*really* obsessed), and have repurchased two of them (The Ruins and Antibodies)
Awesome news on the Linnea feature and giveaway
And Prince Caspian was excellent, wasn’t it–again, took me by surprise, I wasn’t expecting such a strong movie!! There are some awesome storyboard art over at IGN…check out this one of Aslan:
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian Artwork
*joins Heather in song*
You’ve reminded me I need to get going on Shades of Dark! I’m forced to print the thing out (and was successful at first with a few chapters) and had trouble with la printer bitch sitting across from my desk. Stupid office equipment.
